Hero Honda Karizma ZMR PGM Fi


Appearance In order to provide the new avatar of Karizma a stunning look, it seem the engineers of the company worked hard. At the first look, the full front fairing will surely attract you. And why not, the fairing comes in body colour and has dashing graphics. ZMR logo is bold and catch the eye. This new version possesses big mask that houses new headlamp and rear view mirrors mounted on the front fairing. Yes, this is copied from Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-i and Yamaha R15. However, the rear view mirror are having the black shade. A large black tinted arrow shaped wind screen is fitted on the top of the hood. Turn indicators are placed at the fairing. The instrument panel sports digital display. This comes in a very new shape. Speedometer, tachometer, tripmeter and other indicators look amazing on the console. New graphical work is quite visible in white and yellow body colour. But the graphics looks dim at red body colour. The seat is wide enough and raised a little up for the pillion for the sake of sporty look. The new beast is equipped with LED tail lamp that saves battery. A new style rear mud guard is fitted at the machine. The muffler has black treatment with a same colour heat shield. Engine The PGM FI version of Hero Honda Karizma is powered by the same mill that comes with carb Karizma. However, the engineers of the firm did a good job by taking more power and torque from the same power train. The Karizma ZMR's engine is 4 Stroke, Fuel Injection, OHC with the displacement of 225cc. The powertrain develops a maximum power of 17.6 bhp at 7000 rpm and a maximum torque of 18.35 Nm at 6000 rpm. The power figure is .6 bhp more while torque is very much same. The beast sports 5 Speed gearbox that follow the one down, four up pattern. The programmable fuel injection technology helps to increase power and higher peak speed. This time the machine is blessed with oil cooled technology. Karizma also sports a maintenance free battery that ensure better starting in bad weather. The programmable fuel injection technology system is incorporated with 16 bit ECU, a 12 hole fuel injector and 6 high-tech sensors to scan the engine operating parameters like air pressure, air temperature, and engine temperature to ensure the optimum air / fuel ratio under dynamic conditions. The bike has self and kick start option that is useful when the battery turns down. Acceleration The company claims a top speed of 126kmph. But this is not enough to give stiff competition to Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-i which has a top speed of 144 kmph. On the other hand power and torque figures are also remained low as against the Bajaj Pulsar 220. Karizma ZMR can achiever 0-60 kmph in just 3.70 seconds. Fuel Efficiency For enhanced fuel economy, the Karizma ZMR is equipped with the Programmable fuel injection technology. The carburator version of Karizma gives 40 kmpl in city and around 46 kmpl on highways. The fuel tank capacity of the machine is 16 litres while it has 2.5 litres of reserve. The bike is claimed to give around 35 kmpl of mileage in city. Colours The new sports bike comes in five attractive colours. The colours are moon yellow, pearl white, vibrant blue, panther black and sports red. The body colour is present at front fairing, side panels, airscoops and front mudguard. Rear view mirrors and grab rails are not in body colour. Rear shock absorber's swing arm is painted in red that gives the machine a trendy sports look. Available colours Are : Brakes Hero Honda Karizma ZMR PGM FI houses disc brakes at both end. The diametre of front disc brake is 276mm while rear one is smaller that is 240mm. On the other hand, its predecessor comes with only front disc brakes. Both side disc brakes means, smart barking system that can halt the bike at any speed instantly. Suspension As far as shock absorber of the machine is concerned, it houses telescopic hydraulic fork at front and gas charged shock absorber that is five step adjustable. In other words, the Karizma ZMR's gas charged fork can be adjusted in five modes according to different riding conditions. Gas charged fork ensure butter-smooth riding for the rider and passenger. Wheels and Tyres Hero Honda Karizma ZMR PGM Fi comes with five spoke alloy wheels. It possesses tubeless tyres which reduce the possibility of puncture. The wheelbase of the bike is 1350 mm. The tyre size is 80/100x18-47P (front) and 100/90x18-56P (rear). Wheel Base and Controlling This time the company has added more flesh to the tyres. The wheelbase is increased to 1350mm. While in its predecessor, the wheelbase was 1335mm. This is clear now that the stability and balance will be moer in the new version of Karizma. Let's see the controlling aspect of the machine, it sports both side disc brakes. For better handling and control, split clip on handlebars are there. Comfortness Let's talk about the comfortability of the Karizma ZMR, split up seat is there to give painless riding experience for the rider and pillion. For the conveance of the passenger, foot pegs, split grab rails and passenger foot rest is fitted. Pros Hero Honda Karizma ZMR PGM Fi is a very good looking bike in the class. Acceleration and optimum fuel consumption technology is provided. Cons The power and torque figures could be upgraded. That is found in Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-i. The price tag is too much for this kind of sports bike.
